Dear Hockey Parents,
Guardians and Players,
It’s hard to believe
that with the 23-24 season barely in the rearview mirror, we are looking at tryouts
for the 2024-25 hockey season. Nathan
Jeffrey has been named the Head Coach for the U11 A/BB Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting
Hockey Club, and he is excited to begin working with this group of young
athletes.
As a club, we are
looking to compete at an A/BB level for the 2024-25 season. In doing so, we will challenge each other to
put forth our best effort every single time we step on the ice, challenging our
athletes, and enabling the growth of not only themselves, but in that of the
collective team.
Tryout Process:
At the time of writing
this letter, the response for tryouts has been astounding, with 40+ athletes
registered to begin attending on Saturday, April 20th. For some of you, this may be the first time
your athlete has “tried out” for a team, while others may have been through
this before. Regardless, it can be an
extremely nerve-racking experience, and we will do our best to make your players
feel comfortable and supported throughout the entire process. While not all players will be placed on the A/BB
team, we will work to find all players a home within the Sarnia Junior Lady
Sting organization, to enable their growth and expand their abilities.
The try-out dates
and times are as follows:
·
Saturday,
April 20th @ 12pm – Clearwater Blue
o A-L: 12:00 – 12:45
o M-Z: 12:45 – 1:30
·
Sunday,
April 21st @ 2pm – Clearwater Blue
o A-L: 2:00 – 3:00
o M-Z: 3:00 – 4:00
·
Wednesday,
April 24th @ 6pm – Pat Stapleton
·
Sunday,
April 28th @ 5pm – Pat Stapleton
The tryout
schedule might be subject to change, so we encourage you to stay updated by
regularly checking the U11 team website (sarniagirlshockey.com) for any
changes.
Each player will
be guaranteed a minimum of two (2) tryouts with reassignments to the U11 Tier 2
tryouts beginning after the 2nd tryout. Those players successfully moving on in
the tryout process after the 2nd tryout will be posted to our U11 Team website
at 6:00pm on Monday, Apr. 22nd, 2024.
Please note: All player
evaluations performed by our evaluation team are the property of the evaluators
and will NOT be shared with anyone other than the head coach and the SJLS
Committee. We reserve the right to determine how many players will compose the
final team roster and please keep in mind that we are doing our best to
evaluate your athlete and place them on a team that will allow them to improve
as hockey players and have fun.
We wish you the
best of luck during the try-out process. Give your best effort at each skate you take
with the Sarnia Junior Lady Sting, leaving everything you have on the ice. We can achieve a lot of things over the next
12 months, and the work for that begins at our 1st try-out.
If you have any
questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you,
Nathan Jeffrey
