🐝 Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting Announces Exciting Partnership with the Cousi Group🐝
The Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting is proud to announce a new partnership with the Cousi Group, a dedicated group of local community members and former local hockey players who have been making a lasting impact through their annual golf tournament, the Cousi Open. This event honours the legacy of their dear friend, Brian “Cousi” Cousineau, a former professional goalie who passed away in 2002.
Over the years, the Cousi Group has supported causes such as Diabetes Canada, and more recently, Sarnia Hockey Association. Their mission is rooted in growing the game by supporting the development of goalies in our community, both existing and those who would love to be one and helping to support the accessibility of hockey to underserved youths in our community.
This year, the Cousi Group has generously committed $8,000 to the Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting to elevate our goalie development program. We’ll be sharing more details in the coming weeks on how these funds will be used to create meaningful impact but here’s a sneak peek:

Supporting ongoing goalie skill development on PD Days and throughout the season

Helping organizations procure high-quality equipment for U7 & U9 programs

Making the goalie position more accessible and appealing to young players by giving them chance to come out and try the position at introductory skill development sessions
In addition to this transformative support, we will be launching our new weekly goalie spotlight feature: “Cousi Corner”, where we’ll highlight goalies from our organization and celebrate their growth and achievements.
A special thank you to my favorite “Team Grandpa” for helping to connect our organizations. Thank you for advocating for all of our girls through your support in and out of the rink.
We are incredibly grateful for the Cousi Group’s support and are honoured to carry forward Brian Cousineau’s legacy. Together, we’re building a future where every girl feels empowered to step into the crease and thrive.
Let’s make “Cousi” proud
