Important Program Changes
For returning U7 players, please note that the 2025/26 season will follow a new structure, different from last year’s format. We are introducing a hybrid model that blends elements from previous seasons to create a stronger developmental foundation:
- ‘Foundations’ from the 2022/23 season - focused on core skill-building, station-based training, and structured development.
- Game play with jamboree options, introduced in 2023/24, to provide opportunities for team play and competition.
Over the past few seasons, we’ve tested various approaches, and the feedback from last season made it clear—we need to return to our roots with the help of Scott Jones Pro Player Hockey Development, placing a strong emphasis on foundational skill development in a structured, progression-based program.
This ensures that every player receives the necessary training to build confidence, improve skills, and prepare for their hockey journey ahead, no matter what it is.
Program Structure
The U7 program will follow a 4-week cycle, repeating throughout the season to introduce and reinforce key skills:
- Week 1: Development plan delivered by Scott Jones Pro Player Hockey Development
- Week 2: Skill reinforcement led by Volunteer On-Ice Coaches
- Week 3: Continued skill reinforcement led by Volunteer On-Ice Coaches
- Week 4: Game Week!
- This cycle will repeat throughout the year as we introduce new skills, ensuring continuous development and structured progression for our youngest players.
