Tryout Reminders!
Tonight marks the official start of tryouts for the 2025/26 season! To help everyone feel prepared for the next few weeks, we wanted to share some important reminders.

📱Stay Updated Throughout Tryouts
Please check the website regularly for updates to ensure you have all the latest information throughout the process. Visit sarniagirlshockey.com

and use the ‘Team Sites’ section to locate the appropriate team as tryouts progress.

📋Key Requirements Before Hitting the Ice
✔ Permission to Skate Form – If your player is coming from another OWHA Center, this form is mandatory.

✔ Registration Fee – Please ensure your payment is completed, as both the Permission to Skate form and registration fee are required to step onto the ice.

🗓️ Know Where Your Player Stands in the Process
✔️During the first few skates, many divisions will be split alphabetically until the first round of releases. Please stay very connected to the website!

✔️At each stage, please confirm when and where your player’s next skate will be.

✔️Arrive on time! With multiple players at each tryout and pinnies to distribute, punctuality is key to ensuring a smooth experience for everyone.

💬 Ask Questions & Seek Feedback
Don’t hesitate to reach out! Each coach will provide contact info for direct questions, or you can email the Board at [email protected] for assistance.

🤝 Supporting Your Player Through the Process
We know tryouts can be an stressful & emotional time for players, coaches, and parents alike. It’s completely normal to feel excited, nervous, or even disappointed about outcomes.

The best way to support your player is to help them focus on preparation (rest, fuel, equipment, mindset) while reinforcing their attitude & effort—the things within their control. Most importantly, encourage them to have fun, even while competing!

💛 Everyone Here Is a Volunteer
Every coach, ice helper, trainer, den mom, and board member has worked hard to ensure tryouts are well-run and impartial. Most of our volunteers are also parents, experiencing this process alongside their own players. Let’s all remember to be kind and supportive throughout the journey!

If you have any feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out so we can improve the experience for future skates.

Looking forward to a great tryout season! 🏒🐝
