* Try-out Reminders *
We are one day away from our 2024/25 season try-outs kicking off!
We wanted to share a few items ahead to help the process go smoothly for players and Coaches alike:
Please ensure before having your player go to the dressing room, they check in with our Board member manning our Registration table with the Coach from the division. They will be confirming attendance, payment for try-outs and if required, Permission to Skates have been handed in. If there are any questions, these would be the best two people field questions or concerns at that time.
Many of the Coaches have sent welcome communications through email or on our website to help outline the try-out process so players can be comfortable with what to expect. Please be sure to check the sites often for updates including date or time changes.
Team Sites for Try-out Information by Age:
We encourage players to be at the arena a minimum of 30 to 45 minutes ahead of their scheduled try-out so we have enough time to check them in and get everyone on the ice on time.
Dressing room policy is in effect for all try-out and try-it skates. This always ends up being one of the most stressful parts of tryouts for parents and Association volunteers as we end up in debates that we can avoid. We will have assigned Den Moms by division to help as well as a list of cleared additional Den Moms should we need them. If you are not familiar with the dressing room policy, please feel free to reach out to us here and we can help get you up to speed.
If your player is coming from another OWHA center, they must have their Permission to Skate to provide at registration or they will not be able to skate. There will be no exceptions unfortunately.
If releases happen through the try-outs from the Tier 1 team, Coaches will communicate when they will post them to their website and when Tier 2 team skates will begin.
We know try-outs can be stressful for players, parents & Coaches and we hope that we can help make this as positive of an experience as possible. Encourage your player to go out with the intention to do their best, listen attentively and try to relax & just play their game. No matter where your player lands, we are confident they will have an incredible season.
Good luck to all and see you on the ice!
