We are happy to report that we will be allowed to return to play Jan 31, 2022.
The Province of Ontario issued a release today, January 20, 2022.
The release stated, “With key public health and health care indicators starting to show signs of improvement, the Ontario government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, today released details of steps to cautiously and gradually ease public health measures, starting on January 31, 2022.
In the absence of concerning trends in public health and health care indicators, Ontario will follow a cautious and phased approach to lifting public health measures, with 21 days between each step.
January 31, 2022
Effective January 31, 2022, at 12:01 a.m. Ontario will begin the process of gradually easing restrictions, while maintaining protective measures.”
Based on this release, we expect that OWHA teams will be able to resume some activities at 12:01 a.m. on January 31st, 2022 but we do not have the details at this time. The specific regulations are not available and we have been advised to expect them next week. As soon as we have the information, we will review the requirements and then send an update to our Members advising them of the types of programming that will be permitted and sanctioned by the OWHA.

Here is what we have been given from the City of Sarnia for plans
I am sure many of you are already aware of the Provincial announcement earlier today, but just wanted to confirm that as a result Arenas will be able to reopen as of Monday, January 31st!
I have included the below details from the province today, as well as an initial report confirming the re-opening of City of Sarnia Arenas on January 31st.
Per usual, we now wait until the Ontario Regulation is updated, and then receive further guidance and direction from Lambton Public Health to confirm all details around any restrictions, and details of our reopening.
At this time, we know for certain that we are restricted to 50% capacity once again, same as where we were when we closed, however in terms of the 50% capacity for spectators, for this first phase (January 31st - February 20th), it is 50% capacity or a maximum of 500, whichever is less.
Therefore upon reopening on January 31, 2022 minimally the following capacities will be in place within City of Sarnia Arenas:
Maximum 40 participants, per ice rental; per rink, plus coaches, team staff and refs as required for game play.
PASA 1: Maximum 500
PASA 2: Maximum 70
Sarnia Arena: Maximum 500
Clearwater Blue Rink: Maximum 150
Clearwater Red Rink: Maximum 70
Food & beverage will continue to be restricted during the initial phase of reopening.
More details and updated permits to follow soon
