OWHA / Hockey Canada Update
Submitted By Leanne Vidler on Monday, June 1, 2020
Hello All,

In times of uncertainty like we are currently experiencing everyone is looking to a more stable future.  In that vein, I will be sharing with you any "official" information we receive from our governing bodies both Hockey Canada and the OWHA.

Please find attached the latest information we have been provided by the OWHA.  As per the info provided we are unable to conduct any hockey related activities until further notice.  This includes, but is not limited to, coach selection, tryouts, our AGM.  What the OWHA did state was that we could collect registrations but not fees.

Until we have clear direction from the OWHA on all of the unknowns anything we plan is sheer speculation on our part.  What I can assure everyone though is Sarnia Girls will provide opportunities for girls to play if that is allowed for the upcoming season.

As per our plans going forward please review the following:

Coach selection will begin as soon as we are allowed.  The committee is struck and all the documentation is prepared.  We will schedule interviews as soon as we are allowed and will post coaches as soon as possible.  If we are not allowed to do in person interviews by the end of June we will schedule virtual meetings to select coaches.

In regards to tryouts we have to wait for our ice allocation from the city to make the plans for that.  As soon as we have the details in what tryouts will look like we will share that with everyone.

Registration is permitted by the OWHA but not the collection of fees for the upcoming season.  Once we know what the upcoming season will look like we will set fees and collect BOTH registrations and fees at the same time.

Please be assured that once we have direction/information on any of the myriad of issues and logistical challenges we face going forward the executive is ready to proceed.  If there are any questions please feel free to email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
