Bantam B Team take Gold in London
Our second gold medal of the season!
Friday morning we started the tournament with a game against Guelph Gryphons - with a win 5-2.
Then Friday evening we met Norfolk HERicanes where we tied 2-2.
Our final game in the round robin was a match against a league rival Lucan Irish Saturday afternoon where we won 2-1.
We placed third overall in the Bantam B division (out of 12 teams).
In the Quarter finals Saturday evening we met the Barrie Sharks and with a 3-0 win we moved on to the Semi-finals.
In the Semi's Sunday morning we met the Mississauga Chiefs - a team who is top of their league and ranked one of the top teams in Ontario - we beat them 2-0 in a very close and intense game!
This brought us to the finals against another league rival Ilderton Jets who also beat out a top team to make it to the finals. Another intense and close game gave us the win 2-1 for the Gold Medal.
All of the girls worked very hard through many injuries this weekend. The trainer was on the ice almost as much as the girls!
Unfortunately we now have 2 girls out for our first game in our Provincial playdowns that start tonight against Wallaceburg.
Our playoffs begin this weekend against Belmont Blazers.
The coaching staff is hoping this tournament lit the fire these girls needed to take us to the LLFHL Tournament of Champions and Provincials!
